Chicago’s Best Pizza, Home Run Inn Selects TCG for SVP of People Search

CHICAGO, IL – Home Run Inn has selected The Christopher Group to lead their Senior Vice President of People search. Founder & CEO, Tom Christopher, Recruiting Director, Jeff Wilbanks, and Senior Operations Manager, Matthew Duda are leading the search.

“We feel blessed to represent this great and high growth company,” said Tom Christopher. “Dan Costello, CEO is a fantastic leader and truly embraces and values human resources.”

Home Run Inn is a proud, fourth-generation family-owned business that competes in both the restaurant and frozen food industries. In 1923, the original Home Run Inn location opened as a small tavern on Chicago’s South Side.  Founded by Mary and Vincent Grittani, the tavern received its name one fateful day when a baseball from the neighborhood park smashed through one of the tavern’s windows, a home run for some young slugger on the sandlot. In 1947, after that baseball made history, Mary and her son-in-law, Nick Perrino, crafted the iconic Chicago pizza recipe known today. Home Run Inn pizzas are made with all-natural ingredients and can be enjoyed from one of nine locations and also from retailers throughout the nation. At Home Run Inn, there are team members who have been with them for more than 25 years, who started in their kitchens and moved up to their corporate offices. It’s employees like these who have made Home Run Inn into what it is today: a family-centric, tight-knit place to work and grow.

The goal at Home Run Inn is to be more than a participant in the restaurant and frozen food industry.  The goal is to be a leader.  They currently dominate the Chicago frozen pizza landscape and they know exactly why they are able to do this.  They’ve identified the key elements of their strategy and have decided it is time to apply it fully to another US city and build the leadership within another market.  In order to accomplish this, they are looking for an energetic leader to build their internal strategy around people.  To be clear, they are not looking for someone to come in and run established protocols.  Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Vice President of People should be someone who can design a dynamic team capable of building systems and processes that give them the best opportunity to recruit, hire, retain, develop, recognize, reward, and compensate their people.  Even though they make pizza, they are a people company first and nothing is more important to them.
